Quantum Streakline​

 

현대 세계는 디지털 기반의 멈추지 않는 시스템 속에서 현실과 가상의 경계가 모호해지고, 인간의 생명 윤리 조차도 새롭게 정의 되는 시대이다. 그로 인해 인간의 존엄성은 상실되고 해체되어 가고 있으며, 문명의 발달로 인해 이미 변해버려 원래의 가치로 되돌리기 어렵게 되었다. 이러한 시대적 분위기를 ‘Quantum Streakline’ 시리즈를 통해 드러내고자 한다.

 

Quantum Streakline은 형태를 최소 단위로 분해한 Quantum dot의 궤적이 만들어 낸 형상이다.  각각의 점이 다양한 색의 조합을 형성하며 랜덤한 곡선을 그리고 그 움직임의 에너지가 끝 없는 파동을 만들어 내고 있다. 이 파동은 모든 것이 상실되고 해체된 시스템 속에서도 인간의 ‘생명력’이 형형색색의 입자로서 생을 갈구하는 듯한 에너지를 표현하고 있다. 이것은 어떤 환경과 변화 속에서도 ‘인간이 인간일 수 밖에 없음’을 희구(希求)하는 상징적인 의미의 몸짓이다.

Painting has transformed from figurative to abstract art in order to reveal the inner nature of human beings. For over 20 years, artist Youngkil Kang examined human images in the water. This effort allowed him to observe the inner nature of humans in the process of image transformation caused by the effects of water waves and light.
Kang’s exploration of inner nature transitioned to the artist’s pursuit of human change in the modern civilized society.

The modern world is an era in which the boundaries between reality and virtual reality are blurred within an endless digital system, and even human bioethics is newly defined.
As a result, the original meaning of the human dignity is now lost and decomposed, and it is difficult to recover its original value prior to the modern civilization. Quantum Streakline Series attempts to reveal the atmosphere of this era.

Quantum Streakline is an image created by the trajectory of quantum dots which decomposes any given shape into the smallest unit. Each decomposed point forms a combination of various colors and illustrates random curves, and such movement’s energy generates endless waves.

These waves of colorful particles express the energy of life even within the system where everything is forgotten and dismantled. This is a gesture with a symbolic meaning desperately wishing for 'there is no choice but to be human.'
